Players - Help & Documentation

How to add, maintain, view, edit and delete players

What is Player Management?

Player Management allows a Team account to maintain the players belonging to that Team Owner ID. Each player receives a unique Player ID and can be viewed, edited or deleted by the team that owns the record.

1. Open Players

From the Team Dashboard, open the Players module.

The Players page displays the players belonging to the logged-in Team Owner ID. Players belonging to another team are not included in the team's player list.

2. Add a Player

Click + ADD PLAYER to open the player entry form.

Enter the player's information and click SAVE PLAYER.

Player information

Field What to enter
Player Name * Enter the player's name.
Mobile * Enter the player's mobile number.
Email Optional player email address. If entered, Hatrick checks that it is a valid email address.
Blood Group Optional. The current choices are A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+ and O-.
Date of Birth * Enter the date in DD/MM/YYYY format. Hatrick calculates the player's age from the date of birth.
Playing Role * Select Batsman, Bowler, All-Rounder or Wicket Keeper.
Batting Hand * Select Right Handed or Left Handed.
Bowling Hand Optional. Select Right Handed or Left Handed when applicable.
Bowling Type For a Bowler or All-Rounder, select Spin or Pace.
Status * Select Active or Inactive.
Address Optional player address.
Special Skill Sets Optional additional skills, such as fielding ability, opening batting, medium pace or leadership.
Important: Player Name, Mobile, Date of Birth, Playing Role and Batting Hand are currently required fields.

3. Player ID

When a new player is added, Hatrick automatically generates a unique Player ID.

The current format begins with PLY, followed by the date and a four-digit sequence number.

For example, a Player ID can look like: PLY202608180001.

The Player ID is displayed in the Players list and in the Player Details page.

4. Age Calculation

The player's age is calculated from the Date of Birth.

The age is calculated when the player is saved and is also displayed automatically while entering or editing the Date of Birth.

5. Playing Role and Bowling Information

The available playing roles are:

  • Batsman
  • Bowler
  • All-Rounder
  • Wicket Keeper

If the player is a Bowler or All-Rounder, Hatrick requires the Bowling Type to be either Spin or Pace.

For other playing roles, the Bowling Type is not required by the current module.

6. View Player

In the Players list, click View to see the player's complete stored information.

The View page can show:

  • Player ID
  • Player Name
  • Mobile
  • Email
  • Address
  • Blood Group
  • Date of Birth
  • Age
  • Playing Role
  • Batting Hand
  • Bowling Hand
  • Bowling Type
  • Status
  • Special Skill Sets
  • Date Added

7. Edit a Player

Click Edit against the player whose information needs to be changed.

Correct the required information and click UPDATE PLAYER.

The existing Player ID is preserved when a player is edited. The original Date Added value is also preserved.

Use Edit when information changes. This is preferable to deleting a player simply because a detail needs correction.

8. Active and Inactive Status

A player can be marked as either Active or Inactive.

Use the status to indicate whether the player is currently active for the team without having to remove the player record.

9. Delete a Player

If a player record must be permanently removed, click Delete.

Hatrick asks for confirmation before deleting the record.

The current module deletes the matching player record only when both the Player ID and the logged-in Team Owner ID match.

Important: Deletion is permanent in the current text-file based module. If the player only needs to be temporarily unavailable, consider changing the Status to Inactive instead.

10. Maintaining Player Records

Teams should keep player information current. In particular, review:

  • Player name
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Date of Birth
  • Playing Role
  • Batting Hand
  • Bowling Hand and Bowling Type
  • Status
  • Special Skill Sets

When information changes, use Edit rather than creating a duplicate player record.

11. Team Security

Player records are associated with the logged-in Team Owner ID. The current module checks the Owner ID when listing, viewing, editing and deleting players.

This prevents one Team account from managing another Team's player records through the Player Management page.

12. What This Module Currently Covers

The current Player Management module covers:

  • Add Player
  • List Players
  • View Player
  • Edit Player
  • Delete Player
  • Active / Inactive status
  • Automatic Player ID generation
  • Automatic age calculation
  • Team Owner ID security

Team selection for matches, tournament participation, scorecard use and other future player-related functions should be explained in their respective Help sections when those modules are available.

Quick Player Management Routine

  1. Add the player once.
  2. Enter accurate personal and cricket information.
  3. Keep the player Status updated.
  4. Use Edit when information changes.
  5. Use Inactive when a record should be retained but the player is not currently active.
  6. Use Delete only when the player record genuinely needs to be removed.
